Title

Tax Benefits for Disabled Veterans

Body

There are special tax considerations for disabled veterans that may require filing amended returns. Valid amended returns may be needed when:

  • A veteran receives an increase of their percentage of disability from the Veteran's Administration (which may or may not include a retroactive determination) or
  • When the combat disabled veteran has applied for, and been granted, Combat-Related Special Compensation, after an award for Concurrent Retirement and Disability.

More information can be found on the Veterans with Disabilities page of IRS.gov.
