Chapter President Gwen Aikens opened the event by honoring the women military veterans in the audience. She asked that they stand and be recognized where they were then presented with a carnation as a thank you for their service.

Cynthia Drew, who was in charge of games, distributed a military word scramble game for everyone to solve. Just like in the military all were told to keep the papers face down with pencil on the table until given the command. “Who told you to pick up that pencil?!?” At the signal participants were given five minutes to unscramble the words. And to add more pressure, there were prizes for those who got the most right.

Patricia Weisman, who was in charge of refreshments, encouraged participants to eat the veggies, fruit, cake, chips and cookies; and to sign in and get a raffle ticket for prizes at the end of the event. She also shared some of her memories and reasons for her involvement with MOS.

Sheree Strauss, who was in charge of the information, presented some wonderful videos honoring women in the military.

The first video was two minutes and very fast moving. It can be viewed at: Salute

The second video was a very informative 25 minute video that can be seen at: Women in the military A Documentary from the Pentagon

The event closed with a moment of silence to remember and honor Trisina Porter, an enthusiastic MOS member that passed away a year ago. She is missed very much.

Thank you for your hard work and support of all military veterans.
