Announcements and News: MOS to hold national conference

MOS to hold national conference

President Carol Permar announced in an email to members of Military Outreach for Service that MOS will be holding a national conference on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
The conference will be conducted virtually using Live Meeting and a conference line. With the IRS budget being so tight and MOS having limited funds, a virtual conference seemed to be the right way to go.
Members will receive a Live Meeting invitation through their work email account. They can receive permission to attend during working hours by adding the conference to their career development plan and use self-development training time with permission from their managers.
The agenda, under development at this date, includes:
  • a presentation from a BEST specialist on getting credit for your military service for federal retirement purposes,
  • a documentary movie from Vietnam, a community emergency response expert,
  • a representative from the Blue Star Families organization, and
  • a discussion on recruiting and retaining veterans led by Jim Clifford who held set up the IRS's wounded warrior internship program.
The board is working on getting another special guest, details to be provided upon confirmation.
The 2014 MOS Training Conference is expected to run from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time. Contact Carol Permar for more information.
